Radiology (Digital X-ray Services)
The Laconia Clinic is pleased to offer an on-site, comprehensive radiology department in our main facility.
Our certified radiology technicians utilize state-of-the-art, digital radiology equipment to perform a wide range of medical and diagnostic imaging services.
We are pleased to offer digital mammography — the gold standard in mammography technology in our Caring for Women Center, located adjacPasteent to the Laconia Clinic.
According to the National Cancer Institute, digital mammography can improve detection in women who are under the age of 50, those who have dense breast tissue and women who have not yet entered menopause.
If you are a woman over the age of 40, under most insurance plans, including Medicare you may schedule an annual diagnostic mammogram without a physician referral. If you cannot afford a mammogram, you may qualify for screening assistance. As a clinical department of LRGHealthcare, we participate with various programs to assist women.

Unlike radiology procedures, Ultrasound studies do not utilize radiation to produce images. Sound waves are used similar to SONAR to produce images of the soft tissue of the body. This type of exam is very useful in pregnancy to view the fetus and the growth of the fetus. Ultrasound is also used to detect abnormalities of the liver, gall bladder, major vessels, and small parts of the body.
Prenatal Ultrasound Services
We are pleased to offer 2D ultrasounds in our Caring for Women Center (CFW), located adjacent to the Laconia Clinic. As clinical department of Lakes Region General Hospital, we can also offer CFW patients elective 3D, 4D ultrasound services.
2D Ultrasound— a level one diagnostic ultrasound done in the CFW office, is used to estimate the baby’s expected due date and to look for abnormalities. We offer complimentary images of your session.
3D-4D Ultrasound—elective, limited diagnostic 3D, 4D reassurance ultrasounds are available to expectant mothers who are currently receiving prenatal care with CFW/Lakes Region General Hospital. We offer complimentary images of your session.
What is the difference between 2D ultrasound & 3D-4D ultrasound?
2D ultrasounds are standard testing for anyone who is pregnant. Healthcare providers typically perform 2D ultrasounds during the first trimester of pregnancy. During these first months of pregnancy, the diagnostic ultrasound is used to estimate the baby’s expected due date and to look for abnormalities.
A 3D-4D ultrasound adds the element of time and dimension to the process. The results are three dimensional, live action images of your baby. The 3D and 4D ultrasound uses technology to bring images of your unborn baby to life. This elective, limited diagnostic ultrasound allows you to take a peek at your baby’s movement inside the womb.
We are pleased to offer bone density testing in our Caring for Women Center, located adjacent to the Laconia Clinic. This procedure is performed to evaluate patients risk for osteoporosis. The equipment uses x-ray to image and gives the radiologist a graph and score on a patient, which assist the PCP in the diagnosis of Osteoporosis.
